Goals!
by Brian Tracy
If you have never written goals down properly, this is the book to do it with. Tracy walks through the mechanics: clarity, writing, deadlines, lists, daily review, and the question 'what one goal, if achieved, would have the greatest positive impact?' It is systematic to the point of being mechanical, which is exactly why it works for people who have only ever had vague intentions.
Read it if…
you have ambitions but have never put them through a real process on paper.
Skip it if…
you already run an annual and quarterly planning rhythm; you will find little new here.
Three things you will actually use
- Write goals daily in a notebook without looking at yesterday's list.
- Give every goal a deadline and a next physical action.
- Review the list every morning before email.
Do this first
Write ten goals for the next twelve months, circle the one with the biggest impact, and plan it tonight.
Our verdict
A nuts-and-bolts goals workshop in paperback form; do the exercises or do not bother.
