The Energy Bus
by Jon Gordon
A fable about a man whose car breaks down, forcing him onto a bus with a driver who teaches ten rules for positive energy. It is simple to the point of simplistic, and the lessons (you drive your bus, no energy vampires, love your passengers) are easy to remember and easier to dismiss. Teams tend to like it more than individual readers.
Read it if…
you lead a team and want a short, shared vocabulary for attitude that everyone will actually read.
Skip it if…
you dislike business parables; the story is thin and the cheer is relentless.
Three things you will actually use
- Decide your focus for the day before anyone else does.
- Remove or limit negativity sources on purpose.
- Lead with enthusiasm even when you do not feel it yet.
Do this first
Name the one energy vampire in your week and decide how you will limit their seat on the bus.
Our verdict
A short, sugary parable that works better as a team conversation than a solo read.
