Think Again

by Adam Grant

Grant makes the case for rethinking: holding opinions loosely, arguing like a scientist, and changing your mind as a strength. The chapters on how to disagree productively and how to persuade without pushing are excellent, and the book is readable and funny. It is also longer than the idea needs.

Read it if…

you are confident in your views and want to be right more often, which means being wrong gracefully.

Skip it if…

you want a short read; it sprawls.

Three things you will actually use

  1. Think like a scientist: hypotheses, not identities.
  2. Ask 'what evidence would change your mind?'
  3. Separate your opinions from your self.

Do this first

Write down one strongly held belief and what evidence would change your mind.

Our verdict

Smart, warm and overlong; a healthy book for the certain.
