Be Obsessed or Be Average

by Grant Cardone

Cardone argues that moderation is the enemy of achievement and that an all-consuming focus on a goal is a feature, not a flaw. It is loud, repetitive and occasionally reckless, and for a certain reader at a certain moment it is exactly the kick required. Nobody finishes this book unsure of what the author thinks.

Read it if…

you are stuck in polite, half-committed effort and need permission to go all in on one thing.

Skip it if…

you have family, health or sleep obligations the book waves away; its advice assumes a single-minded life.

Three things you will actually use

  1. Pick one target and starve the others.
  2. Treat criticism of your intensity as a signal you are on track.
  3. Work the goal daily, not when inspired.

Do this first

Choose the one goal you would pursue if you were allowed to be obsessed, and clear one hour a day for it.

Our verdict

A shot of adrenaline with no nutritional value; sometimes that is the right prescription.
