Mini Habits

by Stephen Guise

Guise's premise: make the habit so small it is stupid to skip, one push-up, fifty words, one page, and let momentum do the rest. It predates and overlaps with Tiny Habits and Atomic Habits, is shorter and more personal, and the one-push-up story has helped a lot of people start.

Read it if…

you want the smallest possible starting point and a short book to justify it.

Skip it if…

you have read Fogg or Clear; there is little new.

Three things you will actually use

  1. Set the bar laughably low.
  2. Count the minimum as success.
  3. Let extra be a bonus, never the expectation.

Do this first

Choose one habit and set the requirement at one repetition, every day, no more required.

Our verdict

Short, sincere and practical; a good first habit book.
