The Salt Path

by Raynor Winn

A couple in their fifties lose their home and, in the same week, learn the husband has a terminal degenerative illness; with almost no money they walk the 630-mile South West Coast Path, camping wild. The walking restores him more than expected and the book is about dignity, nature and what remains when everything is taken. Beautifully written.

you want advice; it is memoir.

Three things you will actually use

  1. Walking heals in ways that are hard to explain.
  2. Home can be a person and a path.
  3. Dignity survives poverty.

Do this first

Take a long walk, longer than feels reasonable, and notice what changes by the end.

Moving and beautifully told.
