Reinvention
by Brian Tracy
A book for people whose job or industry has changed under them: take stock, decide what you want, identify skills, job-search methods, interviews and starting a business. It is a competent career-transition manual with Tracy's optimism and lists.
Read it if…
you have been laid off or see it coming and want a structured response.
Skip it if…
you are happily employed; this is for transitions.
Three things you will actually use
- Change is the normal condition; prepare for it.
- Your skills are more portable than your title.
- Most jobs are found through people, not postings.
Do this first
Do the skills inventory in chapter two before updating anything else.
Our verdict
A structured response to upheaval.
