Unscripted

by MJ DeMarco

DeMarco's second book doubles down: the 'script' of school, job, save and retire is a trap, and entrepreneurship that solves real problems at scale is the exit. It is long, combative and repetitive, with useful sections on value, skills and the productocracy idea. Readers who liked the first will like this; others will not get past the tone.

Read it if…

you are already convinced by The Millionaire Fastlane and want more.

Skip it if…

you have not read the first; this adds volume, not a new case.

Three things you will actually use

  1. Solve a need; the market pays for relief, not for your passion.
  2. Build skills that compound.
  3. Escape the script by producing, not consuming.

Do this first

Write the one problem you could solve for many people that you are uniquely placed to see.

Our verdict

More of the same, louder; for fans.
