Signal your brain that it is night, even when the screens say otherwise.
The problem it solves
Evening screen light tells the brain it is daytime. Sleep comes later and lighter, and tomorrow’s focus pays the bill.
What it is
Glasses with amber or orange lenses that filter the blue wavelengths most associated with suppressing melatonin. Clear lenses block little; amber ones block most.
Who it is for
People who must use screens in the two hours before bed and want to protect sleep anyway.
How to use it so it sticks
Put them on at a fixed time, ninety minutes before bed, and dim the house lights at the same moment. Treat the glasses as the start of the wind-down.
Who should skip it
If you can simply stop screens earlier, do that instead; it works better and costs nothing.
Verdict
A reasonable hedge, not a cure. The amber ones are the only ones worth buying.
