The First Ten Minutes: A Morning Loop in Your Own Name
2 min read
Most mornings are lost in the first ten minutes. Eyes open, hand finds the phone, and the day’s first decisions are made by whoever messaged overnight. By the time you are upright, the tone is set, and it was set by other people.
The fix is not a longer routine. Elaborate morning rituals collapse the first busy week. The fix is to own the first ten minutes specifically, and the simplest way to own them is to have something better than the phone to reach for.

What a morning loop is
A short track, ten to fifteen minutes, in your name, that you play while you are still half asleep. It says what today is for. It names the one thing that matters. It describes the next hour the way you want it to go: water, light, movement, the first task before the inbox. It is not a pep talk and it is not loud. It is a calm voice saying, “Lena, it is Tuesday, the proposal is the one thing, everything else can wait until ten.”
Why it works when resolutions do not
Because it is present at the moment the decision is made. You are not relying on a groggy brain to remember a plan from last night. The plan is being spoken to you, by name, while the groggy brain comes online. The phone loses because it is no longer the only thing in reach.

Make it yours
Your priorities, your names for things, your sequence. One person’s loop is about getting the kids out calmly; another’s is about the first ninety minutes of deep work. A generic morning track cannot do this because it does not know what your morning is for. Vary it: a chaptered program can have a weekday loop, a weekend loop, and a short version for the mornings that are already late.
Pair it with an evening chapter
Mornings are decided the night before. A short evening chapter that closes the day and names tomorrow’s one thing makes the morning loop land harder. Many people order both in one program.
