How much repetition is enough

Thirty Minutes or Ten Hours: How Much Repetition Is Actually Enough?

|

2 min read

The first question people ask about custom audio is how long it should be. The real question underneath is how much repetition it takes to replace an old sentence with a new one. There is no universal number, but there is a sensible way to think about it.

Two variables

How old and deep is the belief, and how often will you realistically listen. A fresh, specific goal (a speech in six weeks) needs less than a twenty-year-old identity (“I am bad with money”). A person who will listen every night needs less total material than someone who listens twice a week, but the nightly listener also gets bored faster, which is the second problem.

Why variety matters as much as volume

A single thirty-minute track heard every night goes stale within a couple of weeks; the ear stops attending to what it can predict. Longer programs are not simply more of the same. They are divided into chapters with different angles on the same core: a morning version, a walking version, a sleep version, a version for the hard day. The message stays constant; the delivery varies; attention keeps catching.

A rough guide

A single moment or event, a few weeks out: thirty minutes to an hour, played daily. A habit or a state you want for a season: two hours, in chapters, rotated. A deep identity you want to change over months, listened to most days: five to ten hours, so that no chapter repeats more than once a week. These are starting points, not rules; the brief asks about your listening habits and the quote can suggest a length.

Start smaller than you think

If in doubt, begin with a shorter program and extend it. Scripts can be built on. A person who has listened to an hour for a month knows far more about what they need than a person deciding from scratch.

What length cannot do

No length guarantees a result; the listening and the actions are yours. Custom Audio is not therapy or treatment, and WisdomDeck is not a clinic.

Choosing

The Custom Audio lengths are set out openly on the site. Send a brief with your goal and how you listen; a quote comes back by email, with a length suggestion if you asked for one; nothing is charged until you agree. The FAQ covers extending a program later.
